… Well, it’s the project from Chris’s Introduction to Architecture course that he took at the Arts Umbrella at Granville Island.
It’s made of balsa wood, glue (lots of work with a glue gun!) and fishing line. It stands almost three feet tall and was one of the structures that definitely drew attention.
We watched this structure grow and grow over the weeks of his course. To the initial two towers and bridge span, he added details such as a walkway, railings, suspension “cables” and extra support footings.
I gotta say, it’s well built and actually fit without much issue in our car.
It now gets a premium display spot on top of the piano!
The day started off at around 5:00 with Cody waking up early and Catherine taking him out to do his “business”.
7:00 was the familiar sound of tip-toeing down the stairs to turn on DSes and iPods. Cody scratching at his kennel started soon after that. I got up to make coffee and let him out, then feed him the rest of his breakfast.
Sam and I then took him to a park to chase a tennis ball around and then she showed me some of her skills on monkey bars.
We got home and I opened Father’s Day presents and creations – awesome stuff from everyone! I then made scrambled eggs and toast – with an iTunes Genius list built around Livin’ on a Prayer – classic rock!
Chris had made a word-search as part of his card and I settled down to do that.
Later today, we may be going to see Toy Story 3 and then Ah-Ma and Ah-Kong are coming over for dinner.
Here are some photos from earlier this morning and some puppy pics from yesterday!
You’ll notice a new addition to the site on the right:
- A “Widget” (that’s a WordPress reference) that counts down the time to a specific date.
The first use of the widget is the countdown to summer vacation. It’s been a common (dreaded) question at morning breakfast before going to school: “When does summer vacation start?”. Well, now, everyone can know the answer!
I’m sure the widget will be re-purposed for a number of different things after June 28th hits …. like when school starts again in September…
